Growing up, my dad was my hero. When I was six, he started his own construction company…framing massive homes in affluent neighborhoods. He was talented, diligent, and worked from sun up to sun down. The money followed. Big jobs. Big checks. Big reputation.
But here's what I didn't understand as a kid: while he built everyone else's dream home, he never built a secure one for himself.
